Dairy

Prices being received overseas for New Zealand's Butter, Whole milk powder, Skim milk powder, Cheddar cheese, and Casein are available in $NZ and $US/tonne FOB. They are a weighted average of the spot prices on the various world markets. The weekly data series goes back to 1991.

An interactive dairy payout indicator has been developed that calculates the likely milk solid payout for NZ dairy farmers based on the overseas commodity prices and the exchange rate. See Calculators

The projected NZ Dairy Board/Fonterra payout to farmers in dollars per kg of milk solids has also been recorded. This changes three to four times a season as the Dairy Board/Fonterra reviews its projected returns.

Wool

Weekly prices for ten types of NZ wool plus a Market Indicator are tracked each week. The price data series goes back 1987.

Grains

Wheat

Starting in 1987 with just the Australian Standard White (ASW) and Australian Hard (AH) prices in $US and $NZ/tonne FOB, the service has since expanded to include Chicago wheat futures, Australian forward spot prices for milling wheat and a range of NZ domestic free and contract milling and feed wheat prices.

International and domestic freight rates and handling charges are also recorded to allow a valid comparison of the various prices on a landed NZ basis.

Barley

Domestic free and contract malting prices for malting and feed barley in NZ are available.
